Gulliver's travels

directed by Ade Morris
Imagine a land full of corruption, led by conceited and weak politicians, where the baser instincts of human nature reign supreme and only the faint hope of redemption remains... sound familiar? From the miniature monsters of Lilliput to the gentle giants of Brobdingnag, from the maniacal scientists of Laputa to the brutish Yahoos, this hilarious and striking adaptation of Gulliver’s extraordinary journey was true to the spirit of Jonathan Swift’s original stunning, fantastical adult satire.

Me & me dad written by Nick Lane
A story of friendship, fish pie and flick-to-kick football.
When Andy’s mum dies, Andy does the decent thing- he takes a month off work and moves back home with his dad to teach him how to cook. Fighting memories- and occasionally each other- and risking the sanity of friends and neighbours, not to mention Andy’s new girlfriend, the pair boil pans, set grills on fire and worse in an attempt to prevent a diet of pickled beetroot and jam sandwiches (not necessarily in that order).

Altered State Dance company - Kes

The double bill at the Kings Theatre of Pigs and Kes proved to be a resounding success for all staff, students and the members of the public who attended.
The evening began with Pigs. The complex staging of this piece really tested the performer's skill. The stage was used effectively and the set and costume were outstanding. Production values were highly thought out and the students really enjoyed working in this professional theatre.
The second half of the evening platformed the all boys dance company Altered State and was a dance based on 'Kes'. This outstanding peice of multi media vowed the audience with its complex choreography and the deft use of lighting, music and original stage props.
Feelings of anger, sadness, grief, elatino and strength were sensitively evolved by this ensemble peice.

The Nuffield Theatre Company : ANOTHER SUN
In 1884 a five year old Albert Einstein is given a compass as a present, awakening in him a scientific curiosity.  In 1939 he writes to the US president urging him to build the atomic bomb to counter Nazi aggression.  Six years later in Hiroshima, the hands of the town clock are bent backwards, the gate to the playground is missing and the trees are crumbled to ash.  Einstein’s footprints are fading fast.  In 2007, in the centre of a small Ukrainian town there is a statue of Prometheus – the god who gave fire to man.  The statue is flaked with snow and the streets are empty.  It is a ghost town.  A wolf prowls and comes to sleep at the feet of the statue.  A sign reads "Welcome to Chenobyl".  Another Sun was a contemporary piece of physical theatre which explored the years that follow WWII and was a story of energy and emotion.
